June 15 - June 20, 2009

This last week with Colton was a busy one. He had his 5 week check up with his pediatrician and he had gained almost 2 1/2 pounds and grown 1 3/4 inches in a month. He weighs 10 lbs 3 oz. (90 percentile) and 23 inches (50 percentile). The octor said he's long and skinny. We go back in a month for his first shots :(.

Grandpa David, Grandma Deb and Uncle Andy came to visit. Colton instantly took to his grandpa. He would be a little fussy and Grandpa David would hold him and he'd be fine. He'll miss them when they leave but is lucky to get to see them again in two weeks in Indiana.

June 7 - June 14, 2009

Colton took his first trip to Utah to meet most of his cousins and aunts and uncles. He did awesome on the 6 1/2 hour drive. We stopped twice to feed him and then he slept the rest of the way. Eric and I are learning to be more patient with getting to places and realizing that we will get there when we get there.

Everyone in Utah just adored Colton and begged Eric and I to go see a movie or grab dinner so they could babysit. Mallory (6.14.09) wanted to hold him all the time. She was so sweet and would sing the cutest songs to him. Lisa had to steal Colton away from her. The pictures from 6.12.09 are when we stopped in St. George, Utah....Colton clearly loves his daddy. Mabelle and Jeff fought over who got to hold him on 6.13.

We are all looking forward to Grandpa David, Grandma Deb and Uncle Andrew's first visit to meet Colton this week. He will then have met all of his loving grandparents.

Checking out his crib....not quite ready to sleep there just yet.

It is official "Daddy and Colton" week. There are pictures of Daddy and Colton at Daddy's softball game, office, and work party. We are looking forward to Colton's first Utah trip this coming weekend to meet all of his Utah family. Let's just hope the 5 1/2 hour car ride goes well :).

May 24 - May 30, 2009

Colton has already changed so much to Eric and I. The picture from May 27th I had to take because it's a rarity for Colton....he is screaming his head off. He can get fussy at times but not nearly as much as we hear he should be. We've had many people tell us how lucky we are that we have such a content baby that sleeps through the night, only getting up once to eat. We took Colton to his first movie this weekend, Up. Thankfully, he slept solidly through the entire movie :). Enjoy the pictures!

May 17-May 23

Grandma Barb and Grandpa Dave from Oklahoma came to visit us this week. Colton certainly enjoyed meeting them. This week Colton went to the doctor to get his circumcision. His pediatrician was amazed at how good he was. Only crying for a second while getting a shot and then actually falling asleep during the procedure! Eric had a hard time being in the room so I got the privilege of being there with Colton. Needless to say I was very proud of him. He is one tough little kid!

May 14-May 16, 2009

May 14-May 16

Colton came home on May 14. Grandpa Dan and Aunt Lisa were there to welcome us home. The first night was tough for sleeping for Mommy and Daddy. Colton's schedule was messed up a little so he had a hard time going to sleep. After that first night Colton got it together and would only wake up once to eat. Eric was able to take a couple of weeks off of work which I really appreciated. It was nice to have him home with us.

Another family picture.

Colton David Gant

This blog is to chronicle the life of our new family. It is a goal of mine to take a picture a day of Colton for the first year of his life. Due to our families and friends living all over the United States, we hope to keep them updated through this blog. Enjoy!

Colton was born on May 13, 2009 at 4:25 am. He weighed 8 lbs 1 oz. and was 20 inches long. My original due date was May 11 but a later ultrasound showed May 5. Once May 5th came and went Eric and I would joke that Colton loved the inside of my belly too much to make his way out. I was induced on May 12 because an ultra sound showed very little amniotic fluid. Colton was going to come whether he wanted to or not :). I guess he got the message because when he decided to make his debut it was quick. I went from not being dilated one bit to an 8 in an hour and a half. Four contractions later Colton was here. He barely gave us time to get my dad and sister to the hospital not to mention my doctor.
