Swimming and Memorial Day

With our pool officially opened, we have been having a great time with the kiddos playing in it. Grandpa Dave and Grandma Deb and Unlce Andy all came to visit over Memorial Day weekend. I'm sad that I didn't get any pictures of Deb and Andy, but I will rectify that when we hit Florida in June. We had a wonderful time visiting with them and it was nice to have instant babysitters for a few days. We were able to have a date night, where we went car shopping for me and had dinner. Enjoy!

Kinley carrying around a bag and her monkey cabbage patch baby. Hmm, anyone see a pattern here?

Huge smile from Colton after getting in the pool. This kid is a fish. He loves the pool!

Kinley pointing to one of the many floaties we have. She isn't so sure about the pool.

Brother and sister having fun together.

Out she goes. She had her feel for it and wanted to play with other toys. The water hadn't gotten very warm yet, so I don't blame her. Colton didn't care how cold the water was...he was going to play in the pool.

I've wanted in for so long and now all I want is to get out!

Colton and daddy blowing bubbles.

Awww, Kinley showing Daddy some love!

Grandpa Dave getting his hands on Kinley. It's been nearly a year since their last visit. We made up for it in this trip and our trip to Florida in June.

Kinley hamming it up for the camera.

Our little poser....you'd think she had her picture taken nearly every day of her life so far. :)

I didn't direct her to sit like this at all! She just sat down and smiled for the camera.

Hanging out waiting for daddy to finish up grilling our yummy Memorial Day dinner.

Eric grilling away some yummy food. We had a wonderful day and were sad to say goodbye to the Gant Grandparents and Andy :(.

Just chillin' after dinner. What a beautiful day!

After lots of research and test driving cars, we settled on a 2013 Acura RDX. It's roomier than my Lexus and will be easier to get the kiddos in and out of it. Yes, we have two maroon cars, but after having my last two cars be black, I needed a change, and the choice was maroon or black...so maroon it will be.

Kinley's Birthday Celebration

We celebrated Kinley's first birthday on May 19. We wanted to have a Luau theme with a pool party, so to ensure that the pool was finished, we pushed it back a few weeks from her actual birthday. We had lots of friends come and Kinley was the life of the party. The pool was finished and had the final inspection that week so we were in luck and the kiddos and parents that were there had a great time cooling off in our new pool. Enjoy!

Kinley showing off her ukelele skills. Isn't she adorable in her luau dress?

All ready for cake. Kinley loves to hold things and when she got a hold of a straw, she held onto it the entire time while eating her cake.

Very timidly trying the cake. It didn't take very long for her to dig in.

She loved it so much, she tried to skip the step of eating with her hands and just dug in with her mouth :).

Colton kept going up to her and swiping some frosting from the sides. Here he is covered in blue frosting.

Cake for everyone!!

Kinley had fun opening her presents.

She really enjoys this fun play box that has all sorts of activities on it.

Have I ever mentioned how much this girl likes to carry bags, purses, etc. around?

Really yummy cake.

Hula girl cupcakes

Pictures of Kinley for each month of her first year.

Happy Birthday banner made just for Kinley.

We decorated the house with bright colors for the luau.

I made the birthday wreath out of colorful lei's and a wood 1.

Colton turns 3!!

Colton David turned three years old on May 13. He promptly woke up at 7:00 am and saw all of his gifts waiting for him downstairs. After running into our bedroom and waking us up, we all went downstairs so that he could open up his presents.

Big smile just before tearing into his presents.

Colton is into cars and trains right now. He received several car and track sets from us and his grandparents.

Kinley admiring one of his trucks that does wheelies.

Getting excitedly opening another gift.

Hanging out with mommy on the patio. We had a good talk about what he likes and how big he is getting. What a cutie!

We decided that because we have two kids birthdays in the same month, that we would rotate birthday parties. This is Colton's off year. We celebrated by going to Chuck E Cheese (his favorite place right now) and coming home to eat some cake. It was nice and quiet and we were able to spend a lot of one-on-one time with him.

Let's take a look back over the last three years of Colton David Gant!

Three days old

Six months old

One year old

18 months old

Two years old.

Two and half years old.

Our big three year old.

3 Years Old! Stats

Height: 40 3/4 inches (95% and up)

Weight: 41.5 lbs. (95% and up)

Eating: Colton mainly likes hot dogs, nachos, quesadillas, mac n cheese, pasta, chicken nuggets, noodles and cheeseburgers. He will eat any type of fruit put in front of him and loves sweets. Cupcakes are especially a favorite, along with ice cream.

Size:
Colton is wearing mostly 5/5T clothing with some shorts in 4T. Our pediatrician stated that Colton was the size of a six year old girl!!! Meaning that his height and weight at three years old is the same as a six year old girl. That blew me away! Eric is 6' 3" and I'm 5' 11" so I knew that we would have some tall children, but that's a little insane!

Teeth: All teeth are in and he visited the dentist for the first time when he was two. He returns every six months for a cleaning.

Milestones: Turning three! Learning to swim, learning to share with his sister and friends, trying to color inside the lines, learning to potty in the toilet.

Likes and Dislikes: Loves animated movies; Toy Story, Megamind, Tangled, Despicable Me, Up, Shrek. Favorite cartoons right now is Bubble Guppies and Caillou. Colton LOVES to play with his many cars and trains and to push them around on their tracks or on the floor. Colton is still a mommy's boy, but loves to wrestle with his daddy as well. He dislikes being told "no" when he gets something in his mind to do.

May 6 - 12, 2012

Our pool finally was finished this week. We are so happy with it and can't wait to use it all summer and fall long. We took the kiddos to the park this week and they had a great time. Kinley has no fear and wanted to climb everything. Colton got brave and tried to climb some of the more advanced play equipment. Enjoy!

FINAL POOL UPDATE:

The water finally started to go in on Friday and was finished being filled on Saturday.

We decided to get some new patio furniture.

The kiddie gate was put in, which made me feel so much better about the kiddos being outside.

Pool view from spa.

More patio furniture inside the pool gate.

Another side view of pool.

Small patch of turf for the kiddos to play on when not in the pool. We may have a small yard, but I think we utilize the space pretty good.
