Grandma and Grandpa come for a visit

When I found out that I was having nasal surgery and was going to be off work for a couple of weeks, my dad and Ruby immediately offered to come for a few days and help out with the kids as I recuperated.   The surgery went great and I actually felt better than I could've ever imagined afterwards.  I was still so relived to have the help from dad and Ruby.  Enjoy!

While I was in surgery my dad went and bought me these beautiful flowers.

We heated the pool and the kids had a blast playing the Grandma and Grandpa.  Here Colton is showing off his swimming skills.

Kinley's turn.

Everyone had such a fun time.

Lots of smiles this week with their visit.

Dancing the Grandpa.  This girl loves to dance and was showing Grandpa her moves.

The kids were sad to see Grandpa and Grandma go home.  We'll be seeing them again over Memorial Day weekend.

Playdate fun

One of Colton's best friends from Miss Kelly's (his babysitter on Tues/Thurs), Negie came over for a visit one weekend.  Both Colton and Kinley had a great time playing with Negie.  Enjoy!

The kids playing with one of Colton's Angry Bird Star Wars games.  They were all great about taking turns trying to knock down all of the blocks.

Next, it was on to building an Angry Bird puzzle together (see a pattern here).

After the puzzle, the kids wanted to color (again, Angry Bird books).

After coloring they found the light sabers and ran around trying to get each other.  Everyone had such a great time.  I'm sure we'll be inviting Negie back soon.

February Randoms

February came and went so fast.  Here are some random pictures from February.  Enjoy!

Kinley surprised me after we got home from Target, with a Snickers bar.  I did not pay, nor even know about the Snickers bar.  The little thief swiped it in the aisle without my knowledge.  Should I be worried?

My friend Courtney asked me to send her a picture of all of Kinley's bows.  Of course I had to have them color coded.

Colton has really grown a love of coloring, especially Angry Bird coloring books.

Here he's showing me his masterpiece.  He would ask me if certain areas should be a different color on the bird, then used the book cover as a reference to see what exact colors he should use.  So proud of him.

Eric took Colton out for some fun so Kinley and I had a nice mommy-daughter date as well.  Who doesn't love ice cream for dinner?!?!

We took the kids to see the Lego movie the weekend it came out.  Colton LOVED it and Kinley feel asleep on my lap about half way through, but if you ask her about it she'll tell you that she LOVED it as well.

Brad and Suzy, our good friends from Texas, were in town and we got to hang out with them one night.  So fun!

Kinley just sitting back and relaxing on a lazy Saturday morning.

We have been very lucky with such a mild winter this year.  February was warmer than usual and we decided to take advantage of the nice weather.  Enjoying the hot hot tub one night.

With the nice temps, 70-75*, in February, we decided to heat the pool for the kids to play in on the weekends.

The kids can't wait to swim each weekend and I love that we get to start getting in the pool in February.  We have utilized our pool 9 out of the 12 months which is awesome and one of the reasons we built a pool.

Colton's school celebrated Reading Week by doing different activities each day.  This day was mismatch day.  Obviously his shirt and shorts are mismatched but he's wearing two different socks and shoes and a Chuck E Cheese hat that matches nothing.

Cat in the Hat day.  I tried to dress him like Cat in the Hat.  He has a red tie on but it's hard to see with Cat in the middle.

Valentine's Day, 2014

I love holidays in general and usually deck the house out for each one.  Having kids makes each holiday so much better.  The older Colton and Kinley get, the more exciting the holiday becomes.  Happy Valentine's Day.  Enjoy!

Dressed and ready for the day.

Checking out what V-Day gifts they got.

This year I bought some cute Valentine backpacks that have their name on it.  They had fun seeing what was in them.

Kinley loves acting like mommy.  She will often carry around notebooks and write on them pretending to be me.  A new notebook for her doodles.

Colton got a Star Wars candy light saber.

Showing off his skills.

What's better than hanging out together and enjoying the kids playing some Wii Dance?

They had a blast and are pretty good at following the directions.
