Kinley's Big Girl Room

I knew that I would need to change Kinley into a big girl bed this summer, especially when she could get in and out of her crib.  I started looking around in January for inspiration.  I knew that I wanted to get away from pink and do something really different that would last longer than her toddler years.  I also knew that we were going to get her a full to queen size bed so it would last into her teen years.  After much searching, I finally found the color combination that I wanted to use...gray, white and yellow.  Once I knew the colors, the bedding was next.  I really like the chevron look and thought that it would make a pretty accent to a little girls room as well as an older girls room.  I was lucky to find bedding, drapes, wall paper boarder and accessories all from the same line.  I also knew that I really liked the striped wall that we already had and wanted to use it again.  In July, I tentatively posted pictures of Kinley's baby furniture (that Colton used as well) on a Facebook selling site for Vegas.  I sold it that day to an air force couple who are expecting their first baby in November.  Now I needed to get going on picking out the furniture.  Once I saw this set, I knew it would be perfect, it was called the Kenley collection after all :).  I found the bench against the wall at Target and the gray seat went perfectly as well as the rug.  I covered her white and sage green rocker (which I'm not yet ready to let go) with a chenille gray blanket.  I hope you like it.

Kinley has a pretty nice size room, which made it easy to place all of the furniture easily in it.

I took this picture before we got her mirror, which attaches to the back of her dresser.  There was a defect on the first one so they had to re-order it.

A look at the night stand, which has a really cool feature.  There are small buttons on each side of it that, once touched, turns on a nightlight underneath the night stand.

Kinley has a big window, which she loves to look out of when her changing table was there.  I wanted to continue to let her look out the window and found this great bench at Target.  It was white and had the gray top, which was perfect.  Kinley daily looks out the window and it's a perfect place to hide some of her toys.

The "K" on her door.

Some artwork with Kinley's name in it.  I'm getting some current pictures done and will put black and white photos on each side of this.

This was Kinley taking her first nap on her new bed.  She was out in 15 minutes.  A success!!

Uncle Andy!!

Uncle Andy and his girlfriend, Luciana, came to visit us for a couple of days.  I cannot express enough how much our children love their Uncle Andy!  He is very silly with them and loves to play whatever they want to play.  They Skype with him nearly everyday, simply to hear his funny conversations with him.  Enjoy!

Hanging out, waiting to go get some shaved ice.

Kinley, clearly, enjoying Andy.

All ready to go!

The Purple Penguin!!  So good and so many choices.

Hanging out with Luci in the hot tub.

Brothers having fun together.

You can see how much fun everyone has together.  Can't wait for them to come back!

We introduced Andy and Luci to Krispy Kreme.  Andy took this picture of Colton.  It looks like he is contemplating really hard which doughnut to choose.

Indiana Vacation, Part 3....Family Reunion

One of our last days in Indiana, we got together with Eric's dad's side of the family.  We gathered at his Aunt Susie's farm in Logansport.  The last time we had been there was for Thanksgiving nearly 4 years ago.  It was a fun reunion on this beautiful farm and piece of land.  The kids absolutely enjoyed every minute and still talk about it to this day.  Enjoy!

An old tractor that the kids had fun sitting on.

Uncle Mike hooked up a trailer with some old school bus seats for a fun ride around their property.   The kids took many, many rides.

Colton wishing he was old enough to drive the tractor.

The next set of pictures are quite funny.  Kinley and the cat.

Checking out the sleeping kitty.

 A little closer...

Bam...Kinley went into for a kiss and the cat whacked her on the face, causing a light scratch on her cheek.

The kids checking out the chicken coop.

 Another tractor ride.

Kinley playing in the massive yard with the other cousins.

Mommy's turn.

Yes, that is Kinley on Eric's shoulders.

Eric and I.

This is what happens after playing hard all day long.

Both kids immediately fell asleep once in the car.

Indiana, Part 2....Conner Prairie

We took the kids to a very cool interactive history park, Conner Prairie.  It's a huge park that takes you back into the 1800's and what Indiana must of been like.  There are different areas, such as Prairietown and a Civil War journey.  The kids had a lot of fun and enjoyed all of the various activities.  Enjoy!

Right when you walk in there is a massive hot air balloon from 1859.

We went into the barn and found a lot of animals just walking around, waiting to be pet.

Kinley got down to the sheep's level and had a conversation with it...too cute.

.
Colton enjoyed petting all of the animals, including this baby goat.

The goat must of liked Colton as well because she came up to him for some more petting.

Hanging out in a covered wagon.

Kinley checking out the bed from the 1800's (smaller than her own bed).

And the rocking chair.

The kids found a chess game and had fun moving the pieces around.

This beautiful horse came right up to us.  Kinley had no fear.

Neither did Colton and asked to pet it.

Hanging out in the town that depicts a time during the Civil War.

A school house that was turned into a communication station during the civil war.

Having fun on the wood horses.

Later that night, we visited with the Covele's, Matt, Tiffany and baby Liv.

Colton and Kinley had fun playing in the back yard and with Liv and her toys.
